Foundation

To ensure that this ambitious artistic project can be successfully implemented, Seiji Ozawa has enlisted the support of various individuals with close connections to the world of music. All of them share his passion for this initiative. Some of them are Swiss and come from the spheres of finance and the arts, while others, who are responsible for the artistic side of the project, enjoy the maestro’s full confidence and are involved in a similar undertaking in Enghien in Belgium. The project also involves a number of musicians who are renowned teachers. For the time being, the Foundation Board comprises the following members:

Financing

Having been set up with initial capital of CHF 150,000.-, the foundation is now seeking financial support to balance the budgets for the Academies in the years to come. Maestro Ozawa will not be accepting any fees for his attendance at the Academy; only his expenses will be covered by the Foundation. The artistic directors of the project and the teachers will, however, be remunerated for their services.

Financial support is being sought from federal, cantonal and local public authorities, as well as from various foundations, sponsors, patrons and friends. The aim behind this scheme is to create a long-term link between the donors and the students whom they support.

Patrons, sponsors, friends

If it is to achieve its goal, the Foundation of the International Music Academy – Switzerland has to raise sufficient annual funding to enable it to pursue on a long-term basis the teaching project that it has set itself. And it is with this aim in mind that patrons, sponsors and friends are being requested to become involved in the Foundation’s project.
